I first discovered hydrosols in my early 20s, falling in love with these aromatic, pure plant waters created with fresh leaves, flowers, and other plant parts in a several thousand year old distillation process. They contain the plants’ water soluble compounds and cellular water, micro amounts of essential oils, and their gorgeous, soft fragrances and essences.
I find hydrosols to be so transformative, calming, balancing, and replenishing the skin while soothing and uplifting mood and soul. They're known for being gentle and safe for all skin types and ages, even the most sensitive skin, and are softer and more sustainable than essential oils.
Hydrosols pair perfectly with oil-based products like our Floral Serum. Using the two together provides the ideal combination of oil and water (ie hydration and moisture), helping to bring balance back to the skin and to restore the skin’s protective hydrolipidic barrier for improved skin health.
When our skin and skin barrier are healthy, we're better able to retain water for moisturized and hydrated skin, allowing the skin to remain flexible, clear, and glowing. We're also less prone to conditions rooted in inflammation and imbalance, such as redness, dryness, irritation, dullness, acne, premature wrinkles, eczema, rosacea, psoriasis, and so on.
Hydrosols can also be used as a water perfume, natural deodorant, room spray, or mixed with clay masks. I love misting our Rose Mist all around me before stepping out the door for a subtle fragrance and an instant refresh and uplift in mood.
